Consider the Weeds
with Suzanna de Ridder – Studio Space Cadet
Thursday 4th September
19:00 โ 21:00
Art is Home Hillevliet Studios
Suzanna de Ridder (she/her) is a visual artist and illustrator working under the name Studio Space Cadet. Through illustration, visual poetry, workshops and public interventions, she explores hope, ecological kinship and the transformative power of collective imagination. In her work, the everyday and the dreamlike intertwine, inviting people to imagine more caring, connected, and life-affirming futures. Working with watercolour, gouache, pencil, and ink, she embraces the unpredictability of her materials, allowing chance to become an active part of the stories she tells.
What would the dandelion or the stinging nettles you pass on your way to work every morning say if they could speak? What could they teach us about surviving (and thriving) under less than ideal conditions?
In this narrative workshop, we will explore the resilience of weeds, observe the wild urban nature around
De Hillevliet, learn about the different weed species and reflect on our own relationship with our environment.
We will record our personal observations using drawing, text, painting or collage and create a small leporello zine.
No specific skills neccesary, just an open mind and excitement to learn from our weedy fellow Rotterdammers!
No experience or sign-up needed.

De schaamte voorbij / Beyond the shame
with Ellen Verheij – Kaleidra Studio
Thursday 10th September
19:00 โ 21:00
Art is Home Hillevliet Studios
Ellen Verheij is a Rotterdam based urban social designer and developer of the project Bakkie Taboe: an interactive installation that invites visitors to share stories and experiences around sexuality, pleasure, shame, and taboo. These contributions are part of the interactive installation that makes hidden experiences visible, while gathering insights that can help challenge stigma and support greater sexual autonomy and social safety.
During this workshop, we research together how your thinking and behaviour are influenced and moderated by shame and taboos. Together, we imagine a futuristic world without any shame; what would that look like?
Write your story: In the other part of this workshop, we guide you to write down your own story. How have you been shaped by shame? Is there an event from your life, or a moment where you outgrew a certain shame?
No experience or sign-up needed.

Prompten is geen kunst / Prompting is not an art form
with Honza Svasek
Thursday 17th September
19:00 โ 21:00
Art is Home Hillevliet Studios
With AI, you can create exactly the image you have in your head in a matter of seconds. But is that art?
In this workshop, weโre doing things differently. Weโll create images using a local AI model, print them out, cut them up and work together to build physical collages from them. Along the way, weโll let chance, materials, other people and the AI have their say.
It isnโt a single perfect prompt that determines the result. Art arises precisely from the interplay between different creators, techniques, mistakes, choices and surprises.
Prompts are just the start. Then the creating begins.
No experience or sign-up needed.
