Support Art is Home and Make Your Donation Work for You

Did you know that Stichting Art is Home is a Cultural ANBI?

ANBI stands for Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling, which means it’s a nonprofit recognized by the Dutch tax authorities as serving the public good. Being an ANBI comes with benefits – not just for us, but for our donors too. And as a cultural ANBI, there are even more opportunities to make your donation count, both for our community and for your taxes.

If you donate to us, you can write off your donation on your Dutch income tax return. That means you’re not just supporting us – you’re also choosing where a portion of your tax money goes, effectively ‘voting’ for making creativity accessible for everybody.

You can check the official rules here: Belastingdienst – Gift aftrekken, but here’s a simple guide:

  • Only donations to ANBIs qualify for tax deductions.
  • Keep proof of your donation (a receipt or bank statement).
  • One-time donations have minimum and maximum limits.
  • Periodic donations – regular contributions over at least 5 years – can be fully deducted without limits if you set up a simple agreement with us.
One-Time Donations

One-time donations are deductible, but there are limits:

  • Minimum (threshold): 1% of your taxable income, or €60, whichever is higher.
  • Maximum: 10% of your taxable income.

Example:

Imagine you earn €24,000 per year and donate €300 to Art is Home.

  1. Threshold: 1% of €24,000 = €240. Only donations above €240 are deductible.
  2. Donations to Cultural ANBIs get a 25% bonus for the deduction: €300 × 25% = €75
  3. Deductible amount: €300 + €75 − €240 = €135

✅ You can deduct €135 from your taxes.

It’s a nice bonus, but the taxman still keeps some of your money. That’s why periodic donations are often the smarter choice.

Periodic Donations

A periodic donation is a gift you make on a regular schedule, usually once a year, for at least 5 years. To qualify:

  • You give the same amount every year to the same organization.
  • You commit for at least 5 years (longer is also fine).
  • You agree in advance when the donation stops. If you pass away before that, the donation ends.

The best part? No minimum threshold applies, and the Cultural ANBI bonus still counts, so you end up writing off more than you donate.

Example:

You decide to donate €200 per year for 5 years to Art is Home.

  • 25% Cultural ANBI bonus: €200 × 25% = €50
  • Total deductible amount per year: €200 + €50 = €250
  • Over 5 years: €250 × 5 = €1,250 total deduction

✅ Easy, predictable, and fully deductible!

There’s a bit of paperwork for periodic donations, but we’ve made it simple. You just fill out a form, we create a contract, and all you do is donate and sign.

Donate today to support our community, put your money where it matters, and help us make creativity accessible to everybody.
