Drawing as a communIcation tool
Visual thinking for organizing your ideas
with Lai Chee, 6th November, 19:00 – 20:30
This workshop is for anyone who wants to bring more structure to their thoughts – whether you naturally think in images or not. Through simple drawing techniques, you’ll learn how to make your ideas visible, understandable, and shareable.
We start with the basics of visual language and explore how sketching can help you clarify complex thoughts, plan better, and communicate more effectively. No artistic skills required – just curiosity and a willingness to explore new ways of thinking.

LOOSE DRAWING – CRAMPED
with Nigel van Roijen, 13th November, 19:00 – 21:00
In this workshop we’re forced to draw a certain amount of people inside a small house in a certain amount of time. You’re gonna draw for example 10 persons inside a provided template of a small house. It’s on you to figure out how to tackle the problem and learn to loosen your drawing skills.

CREATIVE UNBOXING
with Lesley Reddy, 20th November, 19:00 – 21:00
This workshop is for anyone who struggles with perfectionism or overthinking. You’ll navigate creative exercises designed to help you step out of your own head, explore your instincts, and focus on the process of making art rather than the end result. All levels are welcome, and the goal is to enjoy, experiment, and reconnect with the joy of creating.

Handbalancing & RITUALS
with The Nolanders, 26th & 27th November, 18:00 – 20:00
Join us for a free two-day workshop exploring the role of ritual in our daily lives and sharing our practice of handbalancing. It’s possible to join for one or both days.
We are Lily and Melody, two circus makers and sisters who started performing circus together as kids. Now, we are creating a circus show for theaters called The Kettle is Always On, which is inspired by our relationships to ritual and each other.
As part of the creation of the show, we want to exchange with our community about the role of ritual in our lives. We’d love for you to come along and share your perspective, and learn some handstands along the way!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
The first day will focus on an introduction to handbalancing, and we will work physically on the floor. Learn the foundation of a handstand and how to build your own handstand practice through physical exercises and theory.
On the second day, we will give our approach to ritual in our everyday lives and offer some exercises to help you examine the role of ritual in your own life. What are you interested in transforming, large or small? Together, we will develop personalized rituals for ourselves and each other. At the end, we will collect these rituals in a short book to serve as a communal resource.
FOR WHO / VOOR WIE:
18+, resident of Rotterdam or elsewhere, for participants in the handstand workshop / first day: in good health with a general level of fitness – no experience required. Bring your friends! / 18+, inwoner van Rotterdam of elders, in goede gezondheid en met een algemeen fitnessniveau – geen ervaring vereist. Neem je vrienden mee!
WHAT TO BRING
For the first day, please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move.

Collective Memory –
The forgotten portrait of community
Analog hybrid collage – sign up before 15th November for full experience!
with eforez, 4th December, 17:00 – 21:00
Efthymios Stavropoulos (Eforez) is a composer and visual artist based in Rotterdam. His mixed-media project mnemes (featured in our current exhibition “COMMUNITY”) explores how personal memories shape community. Each work combines a black-and-white portrait with a layered fragment of a childhood photo and a short first-person text. The illuminated insert acts like remembering itself: we light up one moment and hold it. Exhibited as a series, the pieces reveal patterns across different lives and invite empathy without spectacle. Alongside the portraits, Efthymios will also host a Collective Memory workshop where the participants will build a single collage from many small cutouts, leaving a new artwork for the venue – a growing archive of the place and its people.

Perspective drawing
with Lyn van der Wel, 11th December, 19:00 – 21:00
The very basics of perspective drawing. The workshop is divided into three parts with a bit of theory and a matching assignment per subject. The first two exercises will mainly be technical exercises. People who find it easy or have a bit more experience get a more advanced version of the exercise. During the final assignment you will have more creative liberty, as you apply what you have learned by making a scenery on a grid.
